Command execution via unneutralized exported descriptions
Published Apr 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
CSV injection in Invicti Acunetix before 14 allows attackers to place executable formulas in exported target descriptions. The Add Targets page accepts formula-leading text in the Description field and writes it to CSV without neutralizing spreadsheet metacharacters. Exploitation requires an operator to export the targets, open the file in spreadsheet software, and enable execution; the demonstrated payload launches a command on that operator's computer.
