Code execution via unchecked SMB hyperlinks
Published Apr 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper file URI validation in Notable 1.9.0-beta.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted link. The link handler resolves a UNC path to an attacker-controlled SMB share and opens an executable from that share instead of rejecting the file URI. A user must click the link; resolution can also disclose NTLM credentials for an SMB relay attack, while successful launch runs code with the user's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
