CVE-2022-29263

Local privilege escalation via insecure temporary files

Published May 5, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Privilege escalation in F5 BIG-IP APM and APM Clients allows local users to gain elevated privileges through temporary files. The Windows Component Installer Service saves temporary files with permissions that permit unintended local modification, although F5 has not disclosed the file path or replacement sequence. A low-privileged Windows account and the installed elevated service are required; exploitation can compromise the client host.
