Stored script execution via unsafe HTML assignment
Published Sep 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Appwrite before 1.0.0-RC1 allows remote authenticated users to run script in another user's browser via crafted form data. The public/scripts/views/forms/code.js view assigns an element value to code.innerHTML, parsing attacker-controlled markup instead of treating it as text. Exploitation requires crafted content to reach the affected view and another user to render it; the script then runs in that viewer's browser context.
