CVE-2022-29248Network attack vector

Cookie injection via unchecked Set-Cookie domains

Published May 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Cookie validation failure in Guzzle before 6.5.6 and 7.0.0 through 7.4.2 allows remote attackers to inject cookies via crafted HTTP responses. CookieJar::extractCookies stores each Set-Cookie Domain attribute without checking SetCookie::matchesDomain against the response host, placing unrelated-domain cookies in the shared jar. Exploitation requires enabled cookie middleware, one client used across domains, and a request to a malicious server; injected cookies can expose later private API traffic or alter authenticated state.
