CVE-2022-29246Network attack vector

Code execution via oversized DFU upload

Published May 24, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Buffer overflow in Eclipse Foundation's Eclipse ThreadX USBX before 6.1.11 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a DFU request. The ux_device_class_dfu_control_request function permits ux_slave_class_dfu_read to place up to 65 KB of requested flash data into a 256-byte control buffer. Code execution requires attacker control over the returned flash data; otherwise the overwrite can corrupt memory and interrupt the device.
