CVE-2022-29236Network attack vector

Unauthorized whiteboard drawing via skipped permission check

Published Jun 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper authorization in BigBlueButton before 2.3.18 and before 2.4-rc-6 allows remote authenticated users to bypass drawing restrictions. In affected releases starting with 2.2, a server-side permission check incorrectly treats an annotation grace period as authorization and skips enforcement for pencil events. A meeting participant can add unauthorized whiteboard marks, with no reported broader write access or service interruption.
