CVE-2022-29234Network attack vector

Locked-chat message injection via enforcement grace period

Published Jun 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Improper authorization in BigBlueButton 2.2 through 2.3.17 and 2.4.0 allows remote authenticated users to post to locked chats. The chat constraint logic retained a five-second grace interval after any meeting lock change and accepted participant messages before enforcing the new chat restriction. Meeting participation is required, and exploitation only injects messages during that brief post-change window rather than unlocking the chat permanently.
