Cross-meeting chat disclosure via unscoped selector
Published Jun 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Information disclosure in BigBlueButton 2.2 through 2.3.8 and 2.4-alpha-1 allows remote authenticated users to read other meetings' public chats. The HTML5 client's chatIds subscription selector omitted the current meetingId, so a participant could request chat identifiers and messages belonging to other meetings. An account able to join any meeting on the same server is required; the reported consequence is read-only exposure of public-chat content.
