Process termination via nonscalar session-tensor handle
Published May 20, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Improper input validation in Google TensorFlow affected releases allows local users to terminate the hosting process. GetSessionTensorOp::Compute assumes its handle tensor is scalar and calls handle.scalar() without checking its shape, so a zero-element string tensor reaches a CHECK failure. The attacker must be able to execute TensorFlow operations in the local process; the demonstrated effect is process termination, not data access or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
