Improper privilege management in Cilium before 1.9.16, 1.10.11, or 1.11.5 lets local users gain cluster-admin access via root container escape. The Cilium Kubernetes service account's ClusterRole grants permissions beyond operational need, including modification and deletion of Pod and Node resources. Exploitation requires first escaping a container running as root on a Cilium node; the resulting access can alter or delete cluster resources.
