CVE-2022-29143Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via crafted $partition query

Published Jun 15, 2022 · Updated Jan 2, 2025

Memory corruption in Microsoft SQL Server 2014 through 2019 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a crafted query. The $partition query path mishandles a specially crafted query against a table with a columnstore index and corrupts SQL Server memory. A valid database login and access to a table with a columnstore index are required; successful exploitation runs code in the database engine context.
