Code execution after local user interaction
Published Jun 15, 2022 · Updated Jan 2, 2025
Remote code execution in Microsoft HEVC Video Extensions before 2.0.51121.0 allows attackers to execute code after local user interaction. Microsoft identifies the affected codec package and interaction requirement but has not published the decoder locus or unsafe operation performed on media input. A user must open affected content locally, after which code executes with that user's privileges and can compromise data or interrupt applications.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
