Physical system access via drive-security bypass
Published Aug 9, 2022 · Updated Apr 14, 2026
Improper authentication in Dell Client Platform BIOS allows physically proximate attackers to bypass drive security and access the system. The firmware's drive-security path fails to authenticate the person attempting access, but Dell has not published the affected routine or exact validation error. Unauthenticated physical access to an affected Dell client system is required, and the bypass grants access beyond the protected drive-security gate.
