Account takeover via unverified profile identifier
Published May 10, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
IDOR in LMS Doctor Simple 2 Factor Authentication Plugin For Moodle 2021072900 allows remote attackers to alter other users' accounts. The /auth/simple2fa/profile.php handler decodes base64-encoded JSON from the u parameter and accepts its user ID and profile fields without binding them to the active session. A self-registered account at the 2FA prompt can replace a victim's email, password, phone number, and other profile data, enabling account takeover without completing 2FA.
