SYSTEM code execution via installer link overwrite
Published Aug 31, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Link following in all versions of Measuresoft ScadaPro Server and Client allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM. The ScadaPro Server installer follows an attacker-created symbolic link and overwrites the link target during an elevated file operation. Low-privileged code execution on the host is required; successful exploitation replaces a protected file and gains SYSTEM execution.
