Remote scanning-engine crash via fuzzed APK
Published Jul 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Denial of service in F-Secure and WithSecure security products allows remote attackers to crash the scanning engine with a fuzzed APK file. The vendors identify the APK-file scanning path as the locus but do not disclose the parser defect that terminates the engine on malformed input. Remote delivery of a crafted APK to an affected scan path is sufficient to stop the engine; no known public exploit or observed attack is reported.
