Partition password disclosure via Net HSM scripts
Published May 5, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Information exposure in F5 BIG-IP 14.1.x and 15.1.x allows remote authenticated users to obtain the Net HSM partition password. The nethsm-safenet-install.sh and nethsm-thales-install.sh scripts write the supplied partition password into a log during Net HSM setup. Exposure occurs only while Net HSM is being installed and compromises the credential's confidentiality without altering data or interrupting service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=14.1.x <14.1.4.6
