Code execution via malformed QXD file decoding
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in Adobe InDesign 16.4.2 and earlier and 17.3 and earlier allows attackers to execute code through a crafted QXD file. The QXD decoding plugin fails to enforce a proper bounds check while processing malformed drawing data, causing a write beyond allocated memory. Exploitation requires a victim to open the malicious file and runs code in the current user's application context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
