CVE-2022-2883Network attack vector

Service interruption via zip-bomb task upload

Published Feb 22, 2023 · Updated Mar 11, 2025

Denial of service in affected Octopus Server releases allows remote attackers to interrupt service by uploading a zip-bomb task. Octopus Deploy has not published the task-upload handler or archive-processing operation that lets the compressed file exhaust server resources. No authentication or user interaction is required; Linux and Windows hosts are affected, but the vendor does not specify whether exhaustion causes a hang or crash.
