Remote TMM termination via crafted DNS response
Published May 5, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Input validation failure in F5 BIG-IP 15.1.x before 15.1.5.1 and 16.1.x before 16.1.2.2 allows remote attackers to terminate TMM via DNS. F5 has not disclosed which DNS-response field or parser operation lacks validation before TMM processes the response. Exploitation requires a virtual server configured with a DNS resolver-enabled, HTTP-Explicit, or SOCKS profile and interrupts traffic processing.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=15.1.x <15.1.5.1
