CVE-2022-28702

Local denial of service via installer symlink

Published May 31, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Link following in the ABB e-Design installer 1.12.2.0004 and earlier allows local users to cause a Windows system denial of service. The installer follows an attacker-created symbolic link and creates a file at the link target without safely constraining the destination. Exploitation requires low-privileged local code execution and can leave the target system in a denial-of-service state after restart.
