CVE-2022-28688Public exploit

Code execution via project-specified DLL path

Published Mar 29, 2023 · Updated Feb 18, 2025

Uncontrolled DLL loading in AVEVA Edge 2020 SP2 Patch 0(4201.2111.1802.0000) allows remote attackers to execute code via an APP file. The UsedDrivers section of the APP project's INI data accepts relative or UNC driver paths, and Studio.dll loads the referenced library without verifying its signature. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted project, after which the malicious DLL runs in the current process context.
