CVE-2022-28683

Code execution via stale deletePages pointer

Published Jul 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Use-after-free in Foxit PDF Reader 11.2.1.53537 allows remote attackers to execute code via a malicious PDF opened by a user. The deletePages method leaves a copied pointer stale after deleting a page and then operates on the freed object without confirming that it still exists. Exploitation requires a user to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and successful code runs in the current process.
