Code execution via stale annotation pointer
Published Jul 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Use-after-free in Foxit PDF Reader 11.2.1.53537 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code through a malicious PDF file. The deletePages method deletes a page but fails to update a copied pointer, leaving an Annotation object reachable through freed memory. Exploitation requires the target to open the crafted file or visit a malicious page, and successful code runs in the current process context.
