Unauthorized settings modification via unprotected REST endpoint
Published Jul 21, 2022 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Broken access control in Custom Product Tabs for WooCommerce 1.7.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to alter the content-filter setting. The yikes/cpt/v1/settings REST endpoint accepts unauthenticated POST data and updates toggle_the_content without an authorization check. The exposed action changes whether WordPress applies the_content filtering to custom tab content; broader settings access or code execution is not established.
