Stored script injection via missing nonce validation
Published Oct 28, 2022 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in Demon Image Annotation 4.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject stored scripts through plugin settings. The includes/settings.php handler accepts settings updates without validating a WordPress nonce, allowing forged requests to save attacker-controlled script content. Exploitation requires a site administrator to act on a crafted link, after which the stored script can execute in affected pages and alter site content or expose browser-accessible data.
