CVE-2022-28615Network attack vector

Memory disclosure or crash via integer-wrapped indexes

Published Jun 8, 2022 · Updated Dec 18, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in Apache HTTP Server 2.4.53 and earlier allows attackers to crash processes or disclose memory via oversized input. The ap_strcmp_match() routine stores buffer indexes in signed int variables, so input longer than INT_MAX wraps an index and drives reads past the buffer. Reachability requires a third-party module or Lua script that passes such an input; bundled server code exposes no such call path.
