Authenticated arbitrary folder deletion via incomplete path filtering
Published Apr 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in dhcms 20170919 allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary server folders through the backup deletion endpoint. Util.php rejects only the literal names . and .. but accepts traversal sequences such as ../ in the data parameter before recursively deleting the resolved directory. Backend authentication is required; successful exploitation can remove folders reachable by the web-server account, causing data loss and service interruption.
