CVE-2022-2841Public exploit

Endpoint protection removal via fail-open MSI uninstall

Published Aug 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025

Authorization bypass in CrowdStrike Falcon Sensor 6.31.14505.0 and 6.42.15610 allows local users to remove endpoint protection. The Windows uninstaller fails open when selected msiexec subprocesses are terminated, bypassing the device-specific maintenance-token check. Administrator privileges and access to the cached sensor MSI are required; successful exploitation uninstalls the sensor and stops its services.
