CVE-2022-28397Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via trusted-user file uploads

Published Apr 12, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Arbitrary file upload in Ghost CMS 4.42.0 allows remote authenticated users to publish crafted files that execute code. The public record names only the file-upload module and does not identify a faulty function or validation step; Ghost states that trusted content creators intentionally can upload scripts, SVGs, embedded content, and other files. Exploitation therefore requires a site owner or administrator to invite the user as trusted staff, and the reported consequence is code execution through published content.
