Unauthorized RPC access via derivable static credentials
Published Jul 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authentication weakness in Verizon 5G Home LVSKIHP IDU 3.4.66.162 and ODU 3.33.101.0 allows remote attackers to access RPC endpoints. The CRTC and ODU RPC endpoints accept a pre-generated jrpc account password derivable from the IDU Ethernet MAC address by reproducing the firmware key-generation environment. Network reachability and knowledge of the MAC address are required; successful authentication permits access to protected RPC functionality.
