Unauthenticated root command execution via shell metacharacters
Published Jul 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in Verizon 5G Home LVSKIHP IDU 3.4.66.162 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands as root. The crtcreadpartition function in the port 48443 crtcrpc JSON listener passes an unsanitized parameter containing shell metacharacters to the device shell. Exploitation requires local-network reachability and firmware-embedded client keys rather than user credentials; injected commands run with root privileges.
