CVE-2022-28321Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote SSH access bypass via wrong DNS lookup

Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated May 29, 2025

Authentication bypass in SUSE-patched Linux-PAM before 1.5.2-6.1 allows remote attackers with valid credentials to obtain SSH access. In pam_access.so, the SUSE hostname patch passes the connection string rather than the configured access token to getaddrinfo, so an unresolvable source address bypasses a deny rule. The flaw applies to systems carrying the SUSE-specific patch and configured to enforce SSH restrictions through pam_access; upstream Linux-PAM is unaffected.
