CVE-2022-28225

SYSTEM code execution via update symlink manipulation

Published Jun 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Local privilege escalation in Yandex Browser for Windows before 22.3.3.684 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM. During an update, the installer follows attacker-controlled symbolic links to installation files instead of validating the resolved targets. A low-privileged local account must manipulate the update path; successful exploitation grants full SYSTEM-level code execution.
