Improper restriction of excessive authentication attempts in OctoPrint before 1.9.0 allows remote attackers to take over accounts via brute-force login attempts. The /login POST handler accepted unlimited failed credentials because no rate limiter was applied, allowing repeated username and password guesses. Exploitation requires network access to the web interface but no account, and successful guessing grants the targeted user’s account privileges.
