CVE-2022-28214

Credential disclosure via Sysmon update logging

Published May 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Information disclosure in SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise CMS 420 and 430 allows local users to obtain authentication credentials during updates. The update process exposes the credentials in retained Sysmon event logs instead of preventing sensitive values from entering logged event data. Low-privileged local access and an update-generated entry are required; the direct effect is credential disclosure, while credential reuse enables follow-on compromise.
