CVE-2022-28187

Local denial of service via unreleased resources

Published May 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Resource exhaustion in NVIDIA GPU Display Driver for Windows allows local users to interrupt service through the kernel driver. The nvlddmkm.sys memory-management code fails to release a resource after its effective lifetime ends, leaving the resource allocated. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and affects availability only; NVIDIA has not disclosed whether the interruption is a hang or crash.
