Local disclosure and tampering via privileged register access
Published May 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper access control in NVIDIA GPU Display Driver for Windows and Linux allows local users to access privileged registers. The nvlddmkm.sys kernel-mode DxgkDdiEscape handler exposes administrator-privileged registers to requests from unprivileged accounts. A regular local account can exploit the flaw without user interaction to disclose information or tamper with data; service interruption is also reported.
