2FA bypass via secret-bearing login token
Published Aug 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Sensitive-data exposure in Cockpit CMS before 2.2.2 allows remote authenticated users to bypass 2FA by decoding a login JWT. Auth::check passes the complete user record, including the twofa secret, to the JWT helper instead of selecting nonsensitive identity claims. Exploitation requires valid primary credentials for a 2FA-enabled account and grants access past that account's second-factor check.
