Secret extraction or SSRF via XML external entities
Published Mar 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
XXE in Jenkins Coverage/Complexity Scatter Plot Plugin 1.1.1 and earlier allows attackers to extract controller secrets or trigger SSRF. The Public Coverage / Complexity Scatter Plot post-build step parses attacker-controlled XML without disabling external entity resolution, causing the controller to dereference crafted entity URIs. Exploitation requires control of a configured job input file and is bounded to reading controller-accessible secrets or issuing controller-originated requests.
