CVE-2022-28135

Plaintext password storage in group chat config

Published Mar 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Plaintext password storage in Jenkins Project Instant Messaging Plugin 1.41 and earlier allows local users to read group-chat passwords from the controller filesystem. The plugin writes group-chat passwords unencrypted into global configuration files used by integrating plugins on the Jenkins controller. Access requires filesystem access to the controller, and the consequence is disclosure of those stored messaging credentials rather than code execution or service interruption.
