CVE-2022-28113Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated file write via unchecked backup upload

Published Apr 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Arbitrary file write in FANTEC MWiD25-DS firmware 2.000.030 allows remote attackers to reset account passwords via HTTP. The upload.csp backup handler accepts an attacker-chosen upload path and file content without requiring a valid session cookie, permitting replacement of /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow. Network access to the device web interface is sufficient; password replacement enables administrative login, after which the published chain reaches root command execution through a separate heap overflow.
