Stored script execution via unsanitized backup import
Published Apr 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Halo 1.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user's browser through an imported backup. The database backup import accepts a crafted blog_footer_info value and later renders it as active HTML without sanitization or output encoding. Administrative permission is required to import the modified JSON backup, and execution follows when the stored value is viewed.
