CVE-2022-28072Network attack vector

Crash via unchecked short Hexagon instruction read

Published Aug 22, 2023 · Updated Oct 3, 2024

Heap buffer overflow in radare2 5.4.0 and 5.4.2 allows remote attackers to crash the process via a truncated Hexagon instruction. The hexagon_v6_op function passes its input buffer to r_read_le32 without first verifying that len is at least four, causing a four-byte read beyond a shorter heap buffer. Reaching the flaw requires Hexagon analysis to receive fewer than four bytes, and the published evidence establishes a crash rather than code execution or data modification.
