CVE-2022-28068

Process crash via unchecked DWARF location bounds

Published Aug 22, 2023 · Updated Oct 3, 2024

Heap buffer overflow in the DWARF parser in radare2 5.4.0 and 5.4.2 allows context-dependent attackers to crash the process with a crafted binary. The parse_dwarf_location routine passes r_sleb128 an end pointer derived from loc->block.length without first ensuring that the length fits the actual location block. Processing a malformed DW_OP_fbreg operand can consequently read beyond the heap buffer and terminate radare2 when the binary is analyzed.
