Administrator password disclosure via unfiltered setup logging
Published Oct 19, 2022 · Updated May 9, 2025
Cleartext password storage in oVirt Engine 4.5.3 allows local users with log-read access to obtain the RHVM administrator password. During otopi-style configuration, the setup path writes the administrator password to its log without filtering the secret. Exploitation requires sufficient access to read the setup log and exposes that credential without altering data or interrupting service.
