SYSTEM code execution via backslash directory traversal
Published May 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in 3CX Phone System Management Console before 18 Update 3 FINAL allows remote attackers to disclose server credentials. The /Electron/download route accepts backslash-containing path components and returns arbitrary server files without authentication. Disclosed credentials permit authenticated upload and replacement of a 3CX service binary, yielding code execution as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM on Windows.
