CVE-2022-27872

Arbitrary code execution via crafted PDF pointer dereference

Published Jun 21, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Untrusted pointer dereference in Autodesk Navisworks 2022 allows context-dependent attackers to execute code via a crafted PDF file. The PDFTron parser dereferences a pointer for a read or write operation without safely handling crafted input, raising an unhandled exception. The target must open the PDF; exploitation can crash the application, read sensitive data, or execute arbitrary code.
