Authenticated command execution via unsanitized factory code
Published Oct 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
OS command injection in Abode Systems iota All-In-One Security Kit 6.9X and 6.9Z allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. The factorySerialMacPost handler passes its unvalidated code parameter into util_set_abode_code, which appends it to U-Boot bootargs and interpolates the result into an fw_setenv command executed by popen. Exploitation requires the web interface to be enabled and authenticated access to the factory endpoint; successful requests execute arbitrary commands and alter the boot environment.
